Privacy Policy
Last updated October 7, 2026
BillSend is an iPhone app for making invoices and estimates, sending them to clients, and getting paid. This policy explains what information BillSend collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It covers the BillSend app, the client payment pages it creates, and this website.
Information you give us
- Your account: your email address, or the name and email Apple or Google share when you sign in with them.
- Your business: business name, owner name, address, phone, website, logo, tax and payment settings.
- Your clients and documents: the client names, emails, phone numbers and addresses you add, and your invoices, estimates, items, notes, expenses, photos, receipts and signatures.
- Getting paid: when you set up online payments, Stripe collects the identity, tax and bank details it needs to verify your business and send you payouts. BillSend stores only the account status Stripe reports back, not your full Social Security number, date of birth or bank account number.
Information collected automatically
- Payment page activity: when a client opens one of your invoices or estimates, BillSend records that it was opened so it can tell you.
- Payments: the amount, method and status of payments your clients make. Card and bank details are entered on Stripe's forms and handled by Stripe; BillSend sees only details such as the card brand and last four digits.
- Subscriptions: your BillSend plan, trial and renewal status, which Apple and RevenueCat share with us. Apple handles your payment details.
Product analytics
We use PostHog to understand how BillSend is used, so we can make it better.
- On this website: pages viewed, buttons clicked, whether the launch film was played, and general details such as browser, device type and approximate country. This website doesn't set cookies or store anything on your device for analytics, and doesn't link your visits together.
- In the app: which screens you open and actions such as creating, sending or getting paid for an invoice, tied to your BillSend account ID, with the app version and device model. Analytics never includes the contents of your documents, your clients' details, amounts, or what you type.
- Crash and error reports: when the app crashes or something goes wrong, it sends a technical report (what failed, where in the code, the app version and device model) so we can fix it.
- Feature requests: if you use Request a feature in the app, we receive what you write there, linked to your account so we can follow up.
We don't record your screen, and analytics is not used for advertising.
BillSend does not use advertising trackers, does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and does not sell your information.
Camera, photos and contacts
BillSend uses the camera to scan receipts and, if you set up payments, for Stripe's ID check. It uses your photo library only for the photos, receipts and logo you pick. When you choose a client from your contacts, the app reads only the contact you select. You can change these permissions any time in iOS Settings.
How we use information
- To run BillSend: store and sync your data, create your documents and payment pages, and process payments and payouts.
- To tell you when a client opens or pays something you sent.
- To manage your subscription and the features your plan includes.
- To keep BillSend secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and meet legal and tax obligations.
- To answer you when you contact us.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that run BillSend for us, and only for that purpose:
- Google Firebase (Google LLC): sign-in, database, file storage and server functions.
- Stripe: payments, payouts and verifying businesses that accept payments. Stripe's use of your information is covered by the Stripe Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat: managing App Store subscriptions.
- PostHog (PostHog, Inc., United States): product analytics, as described above.
- Apple and Google: if you sign in with them, and Apple for App Store purchases.
Your clients see what you choose to send them, such as your business details and the documents you share. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of BillSend, in which case this policy continues to apply.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your BillSend data within 30 days, except records we must keep for legal, tax or fraud-prevention reasons, such as payment records.
Your choices and rights
- You can view and edit your business, clients and documents in the app at any time.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and data by emailing us.
- Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU or the UK), you may have further rights, such as to object to or restrict processing. We will honour them and won't treat you differently for using them.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is limited to your signed-in account. Card and bank details stay with Stripe. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your sign-in details safe.
Children
BillSend is for businesses and is not directed to children under 16. We don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
